Meet the TRACIE Team

True Daley
Founder
Necessity is the mother of all invention.
True Daley is a first-generation Canadian of Jamaican descent whose family was the first to integrate an all-white suburb in Montreal, Quebec in the 70s. She is an award-winning multi-hyphenate who has been recognized for her groundbreaking work within advocacy, the arts and technology. True is the recipient of the 2021 Education Award by Urban Alliance on Race Relations for anti-Black racism as co-founder of the Black Student Success Committee. The BSSC is a grassroots organization of Black parents who challenged the TDSB for keeping details of anti-Black racist incidents at the former Queen Victoria Public School. The school has since been renamed Dr. Rita Cox Kina Minagok Junior & Senior Public School, an initiative spearheaded by True Daley as well as the Walk Against Racism in June 2020. W.A.R. is the province's first family-friendly protest addressing anti-Black racism in education. The TRACIE (Tracking Racism and Collecting Information) app is Daley's brainchild after realizing how bureaucracy and intimidation prevent many families from escalating complaints of racist incidents on school grounds. She received funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which supports Black students in Canada’s largest school board. As a multimedia journalist, her work has been featured in ByBlacks.com, The Toronto Star, CBC.ca and CTV.ca. True delved into storytelling behind the camera as an emerging director and screenwriter in 2016 when her first short, Love Underground, was selected for the Toronto Urban Film Festival. The short film was screened on subway platforms throughout the city, reaching over 1 million daily commuters. 2020 proved to be a breakout year for True. She was one of 8 emerging screenwriters chosen by BIPOC TV & Film to participate in a TV Comedy Writing workshop with creator, actor and playwright Ins Choi of the trailblazing CBC sitcom, Kim’s Convenience. Later that year BIPOC TV & Film also selected True for their Writing for Kids TV Intensive Workshop. She is currently developing a comedic series, There Goes The Neighbourhood, while training under award-winning showrunner, screenwriter and comedian Anthony Farrell (The Office, Run The Burbs, Shelved) of CanFro Productions. Her documentary BOSSLADYSK8 premieres in 2025 and follows the life of Sasha Senior, the first Black woman in Canada to own a skateboarding business. As the director and co-producer, her film has been supported by the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, Canada Council of the Arts, Charles Street Video, Documentary Organization of Canada, Black Women Film! Canada, Hire Higher and Netflix.

Spencer Tigere
Chief Technology Officer
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
Spencer Tigere is an Ottawa-based full-stack developer who was recruited during TRACIE’s initial stages for his professional expertise and passionate commitment to improving the lives of children and youth. He is solution-oriented with an optimistic outlook and sees technology as a superpower that should be accessible to all. By day, he holds a high-level position in the financial sector as a data engineer in Canada’s capital. Tigere has leveraged his information technology infrastructure and Python programming skills to support the data management and analytics needs of a national corporation. Prior to this position, Tigere’s background in electrical engineering made him the perfect candidate for a pilot project which used thermal cameras to monitor how older adults followed their nutritionist’s recommendations. The cameras were placed in kitchens to track the temperature of the oil, burner or pot used to determine which foods were prepared. The camera was paired with an app to help people explain their eating habits to doctors. This cost-effective alternative for senior citizens on a fixed income is compared to purchasing a high-end appliance with a $5000.00 price tag. As a former youth worker, Tigere connected with racialized children from low-income communities or single-parent households. He enjoyed pouring into the lives of young people as a mentor and role model while working for a national charitable organization. He believes information sharing creates a more equitable learning environment and is concerned about the gatekeeping trend in Western society. Tigere’s talents in IT, along with his invested interest in the betterment of others, make him an invaluable asset to the TRACIE Team, where he is the tech lead and oversees every stage of the app’s development.

Adi Yemane
Chief Financial Officer
Money is usually attracted not pursued.
Transitioning from the corporate sector to champion a grassroots initiative has been a welcome and purposeful shift for Adi Yemane. As TRACIE’s Chief Financial Officer, Adi brings decades of experience overseeing and managing multi-million-dollar budgets, complex financial operations, and high-level fiscal strategies. Her skill set includes budget forecasting, financial reporting, grant compliance, and risk management, which have been critical in guiding TRACIE’s financial success and sustainability. Adi is also known for her exceptional conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities, which complement her leadership in managing both money and people with integrity and clarity. A lifelong learner, she recently expanded her impact by serving as a trustee for a B3 charitable organization, where she oversees multiple portfolios, audits, and strategic financial partnerships. The daughter of entrepreneurs, Adi began developing her business and financial acumen in the family restaurant. Her father, recognizing her natural gift for math, encouraged her from a young age to strengthen her numeracy and analytical skills. When TRACIE was awarded a provincial government grant to pilot its initiative with a three-year, six-figure budget, Adi’s financial leadership, attention to detail, and ethical stewardship ensured the program’s accountability and success. Her expertise continues to be instrumental in advancing TRACIE’s mission with confidence and fiscal responsibility.

Noami Fergusson
Interface Designer
Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.
Based in Montreal, Naomi Fergusson’s strength is not only her limitless creativity but her careful consideration of each client’s needs. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, she is intentional with every entrepreneur she collaborates with. Her strongest trait is her ability to capture the vision and run with it without losing sight of the overall mission. By combining her skills in graphic design with her knack for technology, Fergusson has designed an interface that enhances the user experience. Few apps are created with Black parents in mind, so when she was given the opportunity to envision the look and experience of this landmark initiative, she found the perfect balance between inspiration and information. A textured afro, Black children playing in nature, a map inspired by Toronto’s downtown streets. Fergusson’s creative vision has brought TRACIE to life in a way that empowers and connects with every person who uses the advocacy tool.
